What you Need to Know About Quantum Recording
Written by his Good Friend - Elliot Roth
A Long Time ago...
When studio owner Michael Pfaeffle was about 13 (circa 1980), he was already knee-deep in equipment since he was an avid keyboard player and had amassed a collection of synths that all needed to be mixed somehow! Michael worked numberous odd jobs so he could afford gear that was typically out of reach for the average 13 year-old. First a mixer, then an amp, then some homemade speakers, then a bigger mixer; And slowly but surely the studio began to take shape. Throughout high school, Michael dreamed of a day where he could have his own space dedicated just to recording and the entrie process of creating music.
In his first apartment (which he rented), Michael had setup a very comfy "project studio". But that term didn't quite fit. It was a notch above "Project Studio", yet still a notch below a pro studio. Michael knew he needed more space and the opportunity came in 2000.
Where it is now...
In 2000, Michael purchased a 3 story apartment building, moved in on the 2nd fl, rented out the 3rd, and began converting the entire ground floor into a "real" recording studio. The convenience of living in the same building allowed Michael to do most of the work of himself reducing costs. As the studio took shape, it became apparent the gear wasn't up to snuff, so Michael went on a spending spree upgrading everything piece by piece - New preamps, mics, effects, recording technology, etc.
Now Quantum is a fully operational studio with a full time staff doing everything you'd expect from a studio and more! Artist management, composition, workshops, production, film and video post are just some of the services offered.
The Future of Quantum...
Michael still babysits the whole process - down to vacuuming the carpets at the end of the day (he's a neat freak!). And his involvement means constant change and growth. We're always looking for new ways to bring exciting media to the masses in a profitable manner - but at heart, we're still here to create music and help others achieve their dreams.
